Playwright MCP fixes the small failures that interrupt a browser run.

Dialogs during navigation, downloads and stale tabs are among the fixes in v0.0.83. This is a catch-up on an older release, not a new announcement today.

What the release covers

The v0.0.83 release note lists fixes around browser navigation, downloads and WebMCP tools. Navigation and reload now report a dialog opened during page load rather than timing out. Another listed fix prevents the server from crashing when the browser is closed during a download.

The tab detail

The same note says WebMCP tools no longer remain bound to a stale tab or frame. It also lists compatibility for those tool calls with Chromium 155 and later. Those are the maintainer’s descriptions; we have not reproduced each fix in our own lab.

Why we are catching it up

Our read is that an interrupted browser run can be as important to a workflow as the action that was meant to complete. A clearer dialog report gives the caller something specific to handle. Avoiding a stale target addresses a different problem: a tool should be acting against the page or frame intended by the workflow.

Keep the dates straight

The release was published on 28 September 2026. We checked its source on 24 October. We are not presenting the source-check date as a new release date, and this is not a claim that a successful browser action proves an entire workflow is reliable.

What remains to test

A useful follow-up would reproduce the affected cases on a disposable browser session and record the resulting behaviour. Until that is done, this is a sourced summary of the maintenance note, not our own compatibility or reliability verdict.
